Read a book...

From Soph...

We're thrilled to announce that on October 7th, 826NYC and The Bowery Presents will bring "REVENGE OF THE BOOK EATERS," our annual one-of-a-kind evening of music, comedy, and storytelling to Town Hall, in a show that promises to settle the eternal question: Words vs. Music—Which is Better?

This year's show will feature:

A story from IRA GLASS.
New songs by DEPARTMENT OF EAGLES (members of Grizzly Bear).
Talking from DAVE EGGERS.
A new play* by JONATHAN FRANZEN, read by ERIC BOGOSIAN, PATRICIA CLARKSON, the author, and SPECIAL GUESTS.
A duet with THAO NGUYEN and ZACH ROGUE.
Jokes by host (and Daily Show correspondent) JOHN OLIVER.
And a very special appearance by PAUL SIMON.

Tickets are onsale NOW.

This event, which is named after a story by an 826NYC student, is now a much-heralded annual show, started in 2006. This year's show promises to extend that tradition, focusing on unique, memorable performances, all raising money for 826NYC's free programming for children.

Keeping with the theme of storytelling...my favorite episode of This American Life - "Leaving the Fold" .
