In The Heights - The Movie

“In The Heights” was created by and stars Lin-Manuel Miranda (Wesleyan ’02), is directed by Tommy Kail (Wesleyan ’99), and arranged and orchestrated by Bill Sherman Wesleyan (’02). Miranda began to create the show during his sophomore year in the ’92 Theater on the Wesleyan campus. Later he worked with Kail and Sherman to bring it to life on Broadway. “In The Heights” opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in March 9, 2008."

In The Heights has won four Tony Awards® this year including Best Musical, Best Choreography, Best Orchestration and a Best Original Score Award and Best Actor nomination for Miranda.



Universal Studios has reportadly agreed to purchase the rights to the show in order to adapt it for the big screen.

"In the Heights'" original Broadway producers, Kevin McCollum, Jeffrey Seller and Jill Furman, will executive produce and Quiara Alegria Hudes, who wrote the Tony nominated book for the show, will be writing the screen adaptation for the film.
