Last night I had the chance to check out a few acts at Pianos. I had heard good things about a couple of the bands and wanted to see if they were for real.

The gem of the night was "hockey" - a band who is joining Passion Pit and Bear Hands on their upcoming tour of Europe.


Ben Grubin - former member of Six Dimension Formula (Automato before they were Automato) and a proud Fieldston alum - supplies the voice to this "new wave/soul" quartet. They have been compared to the likes of The Strokes, Boy Crisis, and The Hold Steady. Definitely check them out.
