MGMT in Playboy!

Via Kanye...

Text Via TripWire:

When Playboy’s March issue hits newsstands on Friday [today!], the guys of MGMT will be able to take their rightful place in the silk-pajama’d hall of fame — they’re among a handful of artists chosen to participate in this year’s Rock the Rabbit campaign for the magazine’s annual sex and music edition.

Playboy launched Rock the Rabbit in 2007, each year handpicking a group of musicians (both up-and-comers and legends) to take a stab at redesigning the infamous and iconic bunny-eared logo. They get to offer up any sort of artistic interpretation of the bunny they’d like, and the artwork is featured on limited edition tee shirts, which you can buy here. A portion of the proceeds go to charity.

MGMT is one of a select few of the participating bands actually appearing on the glossy pages of the world’s most infamous men’s magazine. They were photographed (the photo above) by legendary rock photographer MIck Rock for the spread. Pun totally intended. MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden had this to say about the band’s work of art:

The inspiration for the design came from our love for Playboy and new yorker styled cartoons. We’re very into cartoons, the rest of our merchandise line is in fact a series of original cartoon characters designed by our friend Dan from our descriptions of the characters.
